Teaera Strum: High above the Chesapeake Bay on the landmark Bay Bridge, workers from Strum Contracting Co. could be found hard at work for much of this past year. The pandemic did not slow their roll to replace steel rail posts on the bridge that serve as a guard rail for vehicles traveling the four-mile
stretch. “If there is a pandemic or a zombie apocalypse, somebody has to get over that bridge,” said Teaera Strum, COO of the small, family-owned company based in Curtis Bay.

Lyn Burton, Executive Director of Affordable Housing Connections in St. Paul, Minnesota, has created a certificate program entitled Leadership in Affordable Housing, launched at Hamlin University. She is promoting multi-cultural enrollment in a course designed to develop a solid knowledge of the economics of affordable housing as well as the history and key political and economic issues that created the affordable housing crisis.

DeeDee, former national president of the Coalition of 100 Black Women, explains the volunteer effort in place by the Coalition to educate and encourage the black community in Anne Arundel County on getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
