The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) announced that Flat 9 at Whittier in Roxbury, Mass., is a 2020 recipient of the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the HUD Housing Preservation category, recognizing affordable housing developments and organizations that have demonstrated especially impactful use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. Flat 9 at Whittier, winner of the 2020 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the HUD Housing Preservation Category, opened the first of three phases of the redevelopment of the former Whittier Street public housing which was built in the early 1950s. Named for the distinctive jazz chord that evokes Roxbury's rich musical history, Flat 9 at Whittier will provide 316 mixed-income homes on the site and 472 for the total project plus 9,000 sf of commercial space.
